Day 3, July 17th. Woke up at 7....11 hours in sleeping bags. Refreshed and ready for another day of backpacking. Breakfast, oatmeal and coffee. Hit the trail at 8:45. More burn area, on to S. Fork Squaw Creek, then Pole Creek. Both were dry. Then to Soap Creek, had lots of water. We filled up. Then climbed up to 5900ft in 3 miles. Lots of streams to cross. Stopped for lunch around 1. Turned on Park Meadow, (where we were going to camp). Even though I've been lagging behind, its to early to stop. Everyone was feeling pretty good, so we decided to go to Green lakes to camp. Filled our water bottles and started over the pass.(7000 ft. Elevation). These gals are hiking machines. I need to start yoga when I get home. We could see all 3 Sister mts., Mt. Washington, Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, and Mt. Hood. Awesome view..then down the Mt. to Green lakes, 6600 ft. Beautiful lakes. Campsite at 6. The last 4 miles were grueling. 11.5 miles today. Lots of elevation change. Set up tents (its cold and windy). Had chicken and rice for dinner. In tents by 8. I've been the first one in bed every night. What a great day.
